Message from the Dean

Dear Friends and Fellow Sharks,

On Thursday, May 9, we held commencement for 366 master’s program graduates and 178 undergraduates—of those 23 master’s and 39 undergraduates are from the Huizenga Business Innovation Academy (HBIA). Congratulations to our graduates and your parents, our faculty, staff, and alumni for making the most of your Huizenga College of Business experience. We look forward to seeing where your career will take you and celebrating all the ways you are a Difference Maker!

New Trading Floor Unveiling
On May 17, we celebrated the opening of the new Jerry Taylor and Nancy Bryant Trading Floor. With the Trading Floor and the student-managed investment fund, students will gain valuable experience applying what they learn in the classroom.

Congratulations to HCBE Hall of Fame Honorees Ramola Motwani (2015) and James Donnelly (2014) on your induction into the Horatio Alger Association.

HCBE’s Barri Litt is Professor of the Year
I am proud to announce that Professor of Accounting Barri Litt, Ph.D., was named NSU Professor of the Year at the 26th Annual Student Life Achievement Awards (STUEYs). At the same ceremony, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in management graduate, Daelan Mangiafico was named HCBE Student of the Year. Congratulations to you both!

$1 Million Gift for our Property Management Program
The James Donnelly Property Management and Real Estate program has received a $1 million gift to fund a new position—the Associate Director of Property Management.

Last, we inducted ten students into our Beta Alpha Psi chapter which recognizes students and professionals in the financial information space. Our chapter is only two years old, launched after we received AACSB accreditation, a requirement of this prestigious honors organization.

If you’d like to know more about the Trading Floor or other opportunities to be involved, feel free to reach out to me. I wish you all the best for the summer of 2024!

Regards,

Andrew Rosman, Ph.D.

Master This Changing World and Fulfill Your Purpose

Business women using phone and laptop at the office

The world is changing more rapidly than ever and it’s not kind to those who settle for ordinary. Instead of chasing the paycheck, we say do it for the payoff. People, planet, then profit. That’s the triple bottom line. Do your best. Be your best. Because that’s how to be Best for Our World.

Be an earth shaker. A risk taker. A barrier breaker. Be anything you want to be. As long as you become a Difference Maker.

About the NSU Edge

Our Namesake Was A Difference Maker

H. Wayne Huizenga set success records in starting, acquiring, owning, and revolutionizing businesses like AutoNation, Blockbuster, Waste Management, and many more. He had ownership in all three major professional sports teams in Florida—the Dolphins, Marlins, and Panthers. But through it all, he lived his commitment to putting people and planet before profit. He made a difference in the way others defined wealth, success, and purpose.

Come to NSU Business to be like Wayne. Be a leader. An innovator. A good-hearted citizen who gives back to your greater community. Be whatever you want to be. But above all, like Wayne, be a Difference Maker.
