Our Faculty and Staff

JoAnn Ackerman is a full-time lecturer with Nova Southeastern University at the Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus, and previously at the Nassau, Bahamas campus. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey, and worked for Ernst & Young as an auditor.

In her twenty-five-year career, she worked in the publishing division of Silver Burdett & Ginn (a subsidiary of Viacom), and then on to a petrochemical company where she traveled to Australia as a lead team member for a global software implementation. She then headed up a team at Avaya Communications at the corporate headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

For 15 years, she worked for a destination marketing organization serving as  vice president—finance and administration. Ackerman resides locally with her family and enjoys yoga, reading, and traveling.
