Reza Akbari holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and an M.S. in Finance from the University of Kentucky, along with graduate and undergraduate degrees in agricultural economics.
Teaching has been an important part of his career. He has taught undergraduate and graduate students in courses including microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial literacy, strategic management, international business, marketing, accounting, and research methods. His teaching experience includes Palm Beach State College, Georgia State University, SUNY, and universities abroad.
Akbari also spent four years as a visiting scholar and researcher at the University of Kentucky, where he worked with large datasets, analytical and machine-learning tools, and research projects involving data collection, analysis, and presentation.
His experience extends beyond the classroom. Earlier in his career, he founded and served as CEO of an economics and entrepreneurship research center, where he led research projects, strategic planning, budgeting, networking, and multidisciplinary project teams. He also founded and served as CEO of a landscaping company before he stablished his research center.
Today, Akbari also works as an independent investment adviser representative. His work includes investment research, portfolio management, financial planning, financial education, and helping evaluate financial decisions. He holds a Series 65 securities and health and life insurance licenses and has professional experience evaluating investments and their risks and potential returns. He also works with small businesses for their financial planning and decisions.
