Crisis Leadership

Crisis leadership is a skill and a process that can be learned. This course highlights the most effective leadership styles and behaviors in determining a leader's impact on group performance in crisis contexts.

Crisis creates time-pressured changes from standard operating procedures that have significant consequences on people and performance. Organizational survival during crises often depends on the emergence and preparedness of a leader equipped with knowledge of, and experience in, crisis leadership.

This Crisis Leadership course prepares you to successfully handle the challenges of leading under time constraints, with limited information, in emotionally charged contexts. Using experiential learning, we employ a combination of learning skill-building activities that create awareness of your abilities to lead during crises, knowing what personal and external resources are available to you, and doing the necessary steps to mitigate consequences.

Learn leadership in practical ways, creating a personal case study to determine potential sources of crises, and construct a leadership plan.

  • Equip leaders with skills to lead before, during, and after crisis
  • Develop skills needed to integrate culture and leadership skills for crises management
  • Evaluate potential outcomes of individual behaviors in response to crisis, followers' need for specific leadership behaviors
